— Food-serving establishments in Milford will be required to have dumpsters with lids to address the problem of garbage flying out of dumpsters.

On June 2, the Milford Borough Council added this requirement to the ordinance on garbage regulations. The council worked with concerned citizens and business owners to revise Chapter 61 of the Borough Code.

The code amendment passed 6-1, with Council President James Price dissenting because of his concern over the verbosity of the amendment. Councilman Robert Zaruba said language was added for clarity, and Price acknowledged the consensus on the amendment.

Council secretary Lizanne Samuelson said she will provide the amendment to property owners, and that businesses would be given time to comply.
