In May GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center held its annual car wash fundraiser to raise money for the Jean Work scholarship fund.

The car wash was held at the Milford Municipal Building parking lot where volunteers donated their time to wash cars for the fundraiser. Riders and their families along with GAIT volunteers all chipped in.

The Delaware Valley volley ball team also volunteered and made a huge difference in assisting with washing the cars. More than $600 was raised for the scholarship fund which pays for riders who cannot afford the therapeutic riding themselves.

The Jean Work scholarship was created in honor of Jean Work, who was a former riding instructor and board member for GAIT. Wendy and Alan Kaplan created a scholarship in her memory to enable riders to be able to enjoy the benefits of therapeutic riding.

GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit organization that provides therapeutic riding and other equine activities to children and adults with special needs to improve their quality of life.

To find out more about the scholarship fund and how to help, visit www.gaitpa.org or call 570-409-1140. Donations and new volunteers are always welcome.
