— This week Kittatinny Canoes is doing its 25th year of "On and Under the Delaware River Cleanup."

The second day, July 22, meets at 8 a.m. at Kittatinny's Dingmans Base, located at 2130 Route 739, Dingmans Ferry (right next to the Dingmans Ferry bridge).

The third day, July 23, meets at 9 a.m. at the Matamoras Base located at 1147 Delaware Drive, Matamoras, to sort all the trash collected.

The first day, July 21, was held in Barryville, N.Y.

"Most of the volunteers come every year and have become friends," says a Kittatinny press release. "Every cleanup is like a big reunion."

If you are unable to attend but would like to support the efforts, donations may be forwarded to Kittatinny Canoes, PO Box 382, Milford, PA 18337.

Since 1990, the Delaware River has been cleaned every year by Kittatinny Canoes. This includes two National Recreation Areas: The Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. During the past 24 years 8,547 tires, 8,544 pound of aluminum cans and 439.98 total tons of trash have been removed.
