The Wildflower Music Festival presents Daria Grace and the Pre-War Ponies in a concert on Saturday, July 26. They will bring their vocals and old-time swing to the Wildflower stage in a performance that begins at 6p.m.

Daria Grace formed the Pre-War Ponies in 2006 with her friend J. Walter Hawkes to put to use her growing collection of 1920s-1930s sheet music and express their shared love of songs from that era. They prefer the more obscure numbers, as evidenced by selections such as “Pardon My Southern Accent” with lyrics by Johnny Mercer, “Find Me A Primitive Man,” by Cole Porter and other unknown gems from the likes of Irving Berlin and Frank Loesser.

She is one of the founding members of Hawaiian swing band the Moonlighters, and is also a bass player who has performed and toured with many groups including avant-rock band God Is My Co-Pilot, The Vanity Set, pop-noir band Melomane, and more recently the Jack Grace Band and Sasha Dobson.

Members of the Pre-War Ponies are: Daria Grace, baritone ukulele; J. Walter Hawkes, vocals, trombone, soprano ukulele; Tom Beckham, vibraphone; Jim Whitney, bass; Russ Meissner, drums.

General admission tickets are $22; students 6 to 18 years are $11. There is no charge for children under six.

Upcoming concerts in the Wildflower concert series include: Richard Alan Smith, Maureen McGovern ($29 ticket), and Back Home Again — A Tribute to John Denver.

The general admission performance begins at 6 p.m. at the Wildflower Amphitheater on the grounds of the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary in White Mills, between Hawley and Honesdale, Pa. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and pack a picnic. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be held at the air-conditioned auditorium at the Wallenpaupack Area High School.
