Pocono Arts will conduct two workshops for children ages eight to 12 in August.

Simple Printmaking
Monday, Aug. 4, 1 to 4 p.m.

Students will experiment with different printing tools. Projects will include creating greeting cards and designing wrapping paper.

The Art of Cartooning
Monday, Aug. 18, 1 to 4 p.m.

Children learn how to develop their own characters through lessons in facial expression, action poses, costumes and storytelling. This class uses group-brainstroming sessions to generate new ideas.

Instructor for both of the above is Suzanne Werfelman, retired art teacher from the Pleasant Valley School District. Suzanne taught kindergarten through high school in private and public schools for more than 35 years.

Cost is $28 for members and $38 for non-members of the arts council. There is also a materials fee for each workshop.

To register call 570-476-4460 or e-mail carolyn@poconoarts.org.

Pocono Arts is located at 18 N. 7th Street in Stroudsburg.
