— Julia Mae Schweitzer touched so many lives during her short two years.

In her honor and in celebration of her life, an ice cream social with kid-friendly activities, swimming and gift basket sales will be held to raise money for her family.

The social will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, at Camp Akenac, on Route 739 in Dingmans Ferry.

Delaware Township charges an entrance fee to the park for non-residents: adults, $6; seniors (over 65), $5; ages 3 to 16, $2; under age 3, free. Pike County taxpayers are admitted free with proof of tax bill.

Boat rentals are $5 per hour. Children under 16 must be supervised.

Julia died after a long struggle with acute myeloid leukemia, a cancer that starts in the bone marrow.
