— A 30-year veteran of the Pocono Record has been named the newspaper's executive editor.

The Record says Tom DeSchriver is taking over from Christopher Mele, who left the newspaper last week.

DeSchriver started as a sports writer in Jan. 1984 and has been senior editor for news and online since November. He has also served as sports editor and production editor.

The president and publisher of Pocono Mountains Media Group says DeSchriver brings “depth of knowledge and a dedication like no other."

The 55-year-old Stroud Township resident holds a degree in forestry from North Carolina State University.
