— A 53-year-old man shot at Saw Creek Estates in Bushkill on Monday has died of his injuries.

Blooming Grove State Troopers responded to a call about the shooting between 5:30 and 6 p.m., said Community Services Officer Mark Keyes said in a phone call on Wednesday. The man, identified Wednesday as Joseph C. Davis Jr., was taken to the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg and died on Tuesday night. Blooming Grove Criminal Investigation/Patrol Units arrived on the scene and are continuing the investigation.

The incident took place at 5151 Woodbridge Drive East in Lehman Township.

As police investigate, they are not releasing many details about the shooting, Keyes said. The police are working with Pike County District Attorney, which is routine in cases like this, he said.

An autopsy will follow.

Keyes was unable to say when new details would be released but emphasized there’s no danger to the public at large.

“This was an isolated incident,” he said. “As the investigation progresses, we’ll be able to release some other information.”

The investigating officers are currently conducting interviews, he said.

The Saw Creek Estates Community Association sent out an email to reassure residents this was an isolated incident and that they have nothing to fear.

“Bushkill EMS and the Public Safety Department at Saw Creek Estates’ were contacted, both of which provide first-responder services to the community," said the statement. "Public Safety Officers and EMS personnel responded while the State Police were en route to the scene.”

The statement continued: “A female in a private residence reportedly shot a male occupant of the home. The male was transported to emergency care facilities. It is unclear whether this was the result of an accident or a domestic dispute. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and all those affected by this unfortunate incident.”

It added that shooting incidents could happen anywhere, and “are very rare," and that Saw Creek Estates has a modern, highly professional, well trained and equipped Public Safety Department.
