— Planning for the new supermarket mall coming to Dingman Township is now focused on roads and traffic.

Delaware Plaza received preliminary approval from township supervisors in November 2015. The 62,000-square-foot supermarket and three retail stores will be built on Route 739, across from Dingmans Medical Center.

Karen Kleist, secretary-treasurer to the board of supervisors, said the developer submitted information to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), which is conducting tests to determine the type of road construction needed for safety and traffic flow, such as turning lanes.

There are a couple of miles between what will be a stoplight at Delaware Plaza, at Log Taven Road, and the light in Dingman. Supervisors approved the concept but not the actual design of the stoplight, Kleist said. The developer and transportation department are now working together to determine the best design.

Once the township engineer is comfortable with the design, supervisors will do a review.

PennDOT's approval is needed before this major project can move forward.
