Ambulance corps plans chicken barbecue, family fun day

— The Delaware Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps will hold its Annual Chicken Barbecue and Family Fun Day from 2 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, at their ambulance building, 135 Park Rd., Dingmans Ferry.
Enjoy a half-chicken, vegetables, scalloped potatoes, coleslaw, cranberry sauce, dinner roll, dessert and choice of drink for $15. Advance tickets are available for $13.
Hot dogs, hamburgers and other food will also be served. You can eat in or take out.
Beer, wine and select mixed drinks will be available for adults.
There will be bouncy house for the kids, a tricky tray, and other small games of chance, including a 50/50 raffle. Vendors will be selling crafts, raw local honey, jewelry, and wood products, among other items.
The calling for the tricky tray will be done at intervals throughout the day. Winners need not be present to win.
Pocono Princesses will provide Disney princesses Snow White and Rapunzel to entertain the little ones. The Pocono Mountain Jam Company will provide live music all day, with performances by Mark Ferguson, Charles Reynolds, Olivia Zinn, Kelsey Lynn Stoll, Aragon, Mason Jar Rebellion, CBX, and DJ Mary Pooley. You can also enjoy a hike at the nearby and newly renovated Childs Park.
Pike County Motors will sponsor a hay bale throwing contest at 4:30 p.m. Men and women will compete for who can throw a bale the furthest. Registration is $3. First-, second-, and third-place winners will receive prizes and bragging rights.
Also, the annual coloring contest sponsored by Pie’s On Family Restaurant will be judged at 6:15 p.m. The coloring contest is free of charge and open to children ages 3 to 8.
The chicken barbecue and community celebration is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for Delaware Township Volunteer Ambulance. All proceeds of the event will be used to purchase emergency medical equipment and support the Celeste Egidio Memorial Scholarship Fund.
