— Chief Chad Stewart of the Eastern Pike Regional Police Department returned to Delaware Valley Elementary School for its annual seatbelt safety program.

Chief Stewart has been coming to DVES for the past 10 years to teach the students in kindergarten through second grade the importance of seatbelt safety. This year’s program — “Sit back, It’s Elementary!” — focused on the message that children should always sit in the back seat until they are 12 years old, along with the importance of making sure everyone in the vehicle buckles up before the vehicle moves.

Chief Stewart also spoke briefly on school bus safety, pedestrian safety, and bicycle riding safety.

The program is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
