— Four years ago, Pike County Hands of Hope gave a grant for a warm hot meal once a month in a community atmosphere. They named the monthly dinner "The Stock Pot of Hope."
Many come for conversation and fellowship in a spirit of good will. Entrees are served on china plates. The meals are always held at 5 p.m. in the Methodist Church's lower level fellowship area on the last Friday of each month.
A large crowd filled all the seats with standing room only on Sept. 28, as guests ate in shifts. Pastor Luana Cook Scott said it was the biggest crowd ever.
A delicious tossed salad with buttered rolls complimented slices of Liz Steen's famous meatloaf complete with mashed potatoes and spiced green beans and several beverages. The dessert bar featured heavenly choices.
Anyone needing a meal is welcome.
