Stirring the muck to help veterans
Muckstock raises money for Vetstock, with hopes to return next year
By George Leroy Hunter
MILFORD — Some 181 people widely ranging in fitness levels braved the mud, bugs, water, and woods at Muckstock, a 5K obstacle race held at the Malibu Dude Ranch in Milford on July 30.
Some participants ran solo while others were part of teams. Groups of runners were released about every ten minutes in staggered starts.
The best part is the money it raised for VetStock, a not-for-profit organization that assists military veterans. Vetstock organized the event.
This was the first event of its kind held in the area, and organizers hope to do it again next year. Military veterans from the region and many volunteers helped make the event a success.
Proceeds from Muckstock will benefit Folds of Honor, the Combat Veterans Association, and the Veterans Memorial Project.
