The public toured lush landscapes and viewed exotic flowers and plants during the 22nd Annual Secret Garden Tour presented by the Milford Garden Club on Saturday, July 11 in Milford.

Many home owners who participated in this years tour do their own landscaping. They take pride in beautifying their property and making Milford attractive as a whole.

The starting point was at Remembrance Place in Milford where visitors purchased tickets and received maps of the participating homes location. Also guests were able to purchase flowers, plants and food. Money raised by the numerous events put together by the Milford Garden Club during the year go towards scholarships and beautifying areas in Milford.

The Milford Community Garden located on Route 6 was part of the tour, attracting visitors throughout the day. The garden is filled with a wide range of vegetables. Home Depot of Matamoras worked with volunteers of the community garden by supplying mulch, seeds, plants and other materials to ensure a successful growing season.

The food grown in the Milford Community Garden supplies the local food pantry with fresh produce. Squash, tomatoes, eggplant and melons are some of the things raised and harvested.

"Home Depot helped us plant what is in the garden," Milford Community Garden volunteer Sue Daley explained. "The garden volunteers maintain the garden and harvest what is grown. We then bring the harvested food to the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Milford so that the needy family's can have fresh vegetables every week."
