— The Hotel Fauchère Emergency Relief Fund has been established by the management and employees of the Hotel Fauchère, after natural disasters last month decimated communities and resources in Mexico and Puerto Rico. The earthquake in Mexico and hurricane in Puerto Rico directly affected the families of several employees of the hotel.

Donations may be made to the Greater Pike Community Foundation, marked for “Hotel Fauchère Emergency Relief Fund,” and sent to POB 992, Milford PA 18337

The emergency fund is a pass-through fund, with 100 percent of the money raised donated to relief efforts in Puerto Rico and Mexico. The fund has already raised $3,000.

Xavier Morales, the Hotel Fauchère's maître d’hôtel, is a native of Puerto Rico.

"Our guests and the community have been generous and supportive, which means a lot to Pike Countians who have strong connections to Puerto Rico," he said. It took a week for me to find out my family was safe, but many others still haven’t made contact with their families.”

Sean Strub, the hotel’s owner, is a member of the board of directors of the Greater Pike Community Foundation.

“I am proud that Greater Pike was able to respond quickly and generously, setting up a pass-through fund so donors can receive a tax deduction and we could in our small way, contribute to relief efforts," he said.

Hotel Fauchère, as a symbol of support, has been flying a Puerto Rican flag and a Mexican flag from the hotel’s front porch.
