Frances Crane of Middletown, N.Y., dies at age 98

Frances Crane of Middletown, N.Y., known affectionately as “Dolly” to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on Oct. 15, 2017, at Campbell Hall Healthcare Center. She was 98.

Daughter of the late Thomas and Frances Harten Brennan, she was born on Feb. 2, 1919, in Yorkville, N.Y. She was the widow of George Crane, who predeceased her in 1978.

She moved to the Middletown area 30 years ago from the Bronx and was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Goshen, N.Y.

She was active in both the Wallkill and Happy Seniors clubs. She was a beloved aunt and grandmother. She loved playing cards(poker) with her family and going to casinos. She was a hard worker throughout her entire lifetime.

Survivors include her children, Catherine (Katie) Gasperina of Hawley, Pa., Joseph Crane of Staten Island, N.Y., and Joan Frawley of Goshen, N.Y.; grandchildren, Laura, Cathy, Jimmy, Joanie, Christine, Danny, Kristin and Joey; and great-grandchildren, Jennie, Tabby, Christopher, Collin, Loren, Johnny, J.T. and Sean, Taryn, Breanna, Sarah and Erin; great-great-grandson Troy and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two of her grandchildren, Tab and John.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, at St. John the Evangelist Church, Goshen. Burial will follow in the family plot in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.

Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
