Consider suggesting a skate park on your survey

Dear Matamoras residents:

Very soon you will receive a survey included with you water bill. The survey will ask if you have any suggestions for enhancing Airport Park.

Please consider suggesting a skate park!

Skateboarding is an action sport which involves riding and/or performing tricks using a skateboard. Skateboarding is a recreational activity, a form of art and even a form of transportation. Skate boarding will even be represented at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. Scooters, roller skaters and BMX bikers also enjoy “Skate Parks.”

At this present time kids over the age of 12 cannot use Firefly Field. The ballfields are limited to organized teams/leagues. Most recreations teams stop at the 8th grade.

Please suggest an activity that people of all ages and abilities can enjoy. I have noticed the old ice rink in Airport Park has lain empty for years. A nice open air skate park would be a great use for the big blue rink.

Thank you for your consideration.

Michael Robin Jr.
