MILFORD — A special afternoon of appreciation for the volunteers and supporters of Grey Towers was held Dec. 1, in the historic mansion fully decorated for the holidays.
“We’re celebrating all the people that help us throughout the year — our volunteers, our supporters and our friends," said Visitor Services and Information Specialist Lori McKean. "It’s just our way of saying thank you for a year’s worth of support and dedication.”
Bill Dauer, Director of Grey Towers National Historic Site, agreed.
“The volunteers do so many great things here at Grey Towers that we wouldn’t be able to do without them," he said.
He said he expects that all of the major annual public events at the mansion and on the grounds will continue in 2018.
“We are so blessed that the family gave it to us to manage for them," he said, referring to the Pinchot family, which built the mansion in 1886.
McKean pointed out that the holiday decoration was in large part due to volunteers from the Milford Garden Club.
A note of thanks was also heard from Edward Braniff, board president of the Grey Towers Heritage Association, the non-profit that supports public programs at the site.
