— Aspiring actors or professionals who want to hone their skills are invited to the next session of acting classes given by director Jeffrey Stocker of Milford.

“The classes will emphasize scene study and monologue work, plus strong cold reading skills for auditioning and for possible showcase performances,” explained Stocker. “It’s a great opportunity for beginning students to experienced actors to improve and/or learn the craft of acting.”

Stocker has 35 years of experience coaching professional actors, including Joan Copeland, Marian Seldes, Cliff Robertson and Frances Sternhagen. He directed plays for Christopher Durang and Edward Albee, including "The Zoo Story" (50th anniversary reading) at the National Arts Club, where he was on the board of governors and served as chair of the Theater Arts Committee. He is the founding director of American Readers Theatre.

The next five weekly sessions for adults begin on Monday, Jan. 8. Sessions are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Classes for young adults aged 10 to 17 years old begin on Sunday, Jan. 7. Sessions are from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

All classes are held at Marsh Hall, 60 Sussex St., Port Jervis.

The cost is $50 for all five weeks.
