Local officials learn about protecting Pike's natural resources

Representatives from nine of Pike County’s 13 municipalities learned about the services available to them from the Pike County Conservation District.
At the May 23 "Lunch and Learn" workshop held at the Pike County Training Center, Michele Long, executive director of the conservation district, gave an overview of the district’s mission and core programs, such as erosion control, waterways permitting, and the dirt, gravel, and low-volume road program that funds local road repairs to improve stormwater management.
Ellen Enslin, senior resource conservationist, outlined the types of permit-related correspondence shared with municipalities. Chris Ingulli, administrative manager, discussed inspection reports.
Mike Mrozinski, planning director, spoke about the county’s solid waste and recycling survey now underway. The online survey may be accessed at PikePa.org.
“This was a productive morning of networking and information sharing aimed at protecting Pike County’s natural resources,” said Long.
