— Kittatinny Regional High School (Hampton Township, N.J.) defeated Delaware Valley High School (Westfall Township, Pa.) in girls varsity basketball on Friday, Dec. 29. The final score was 51-34.

The Milford-Matamoras Rotary Holiday Basketball Tournament championship game took place at Delaware Valley High School.

Senior and team captain Kelly Insalaco was named tournament MVP after leading Kittatinny with 21 points, scoring her 1,000th career point in the process. Teammate Madison Smith scored 11 points. Smith was also named to the All-Tournament team.

After the game Insalaco commented on her momentous feat, saying, "I had a feeling it was coming (1,000 points) but I just wanted to make sure that I was focusing on the team and not myself. So I wanted to just help out the team."

Elizabeth Bobo and Amber Recksiek each scored six points to lead Delaware Valley.

Insalasco accomplished a layup to execute her 1,000 point in the second quarter. The game was briefly stopped so Insalaco could be given the game ball and a bouquet of flowers. Thus far this season she is averaging just over 20 points per game. The four year starter in basketball also plays in soccer and softball for Kittatinny. She began playing basketball in the third grade.

College is on Insalaco's mind but she has not decided on any particular institution yet. But she has made it clear where ever she attends she will continue to play basketball. And she will continue to focus on her studies so that her plans to become an actuary will become reality. Her favorite subject is mathematics. An actuary is a business professional who deals with the measurement, and management of risk and uncertainty for financial institutions.

On the soccer field Insalaco netted 27 goals in the 2017 season. The Kittatinny girls soccer team finished the 2017 soccer season with a 17-3 record and made it to the North 1, Group 2 semifinals.
