Elsie M. Cherry of Port Jervis, N.Y., dies at age 80

Elsie M. Cherry of Port Jervis, N.Y., passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at her home. She was 80.

Daughter of Leslie and Grace Petito Fox, she was born on Oct. 4, 1937, in Port Jervis.

She married Earl L. Cherry Sr., who predeceased her in 2007.

Survivors include her sons, Earl L. Cherry Jr. of Walker Lake, Pa., and Donald Cherry and his wife, Myra, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; daughter, Vicki Sweeney of Port Jervis; brother, Leslie Fox and his wife, Donna, of The Villages, Fla.; her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Gill, Elizabeth Tomesheski, Kristin Glogowski, Kathryn Shuster, David Cherry, and Christina Onyan; great-grandchildren, Sierra and Sean Gill, Grace and Julian Tomesheski; and several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her son William Cherry in May 2016.

Graveside services and interment will be private at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, N.Y.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Eastern Div., 121 Executive Drive, New Windsor, NY 12553; or to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215. A

Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis.
