The Milford-Matamoras Rotary Club honored long-time Rotarian and legendary community servant to Milford and the Tri-State area, Arthur K. Ridley, Esq. by hosting our own Art Ridley Day this past May 10.

Art was born and raised here in Pike County and is a member of the Milford High School Class of 1952, he attended the United States Naval Academy and graduated in 1958 as a company commander and Art served as a commander of his unit in Vietnam from 1962 to 1963. Art graduated Fordham Law School in 1969 and since then he has been in private practice in Milford, where he has supported countless non-profit community organizations by providing free legal service.

He has served as chairman of the Board of PEEC, Director of the Biondo Foundation, Director of Mellon Bank and chairman of the Board of the Milford Community House. Art is a charter member and Director of the Milford-Matamoras Rotary Club and past President of the Milford Historic Preservation Trust.

The day began with the Ridley Rotary Run which was a 5K Run & Walk held at the Delaware Valley High School’s Cross-Country Trail in Milford. All participants received a commemorative T-shirt and trophies and medals were handed out to the top winners in each category.

They ended the day with the Ridley Rotary Roast that was a dinner and program at the Best Western Inn at Hunt’s Landing honoring Art Ridley with quite a few special guests including Mike Dickerson, Jack Fisher, Dave Ruby, Joe Biondo, Jr., Joe Biondo, Sr., Bill Gaa, Tom Finan and even Art’s wife Jane who took delight in “Roasting” Art.

All proceeds raised from the Ridley Rotary Run and the Ridley Rotary Roast went to the following three children’s charities that Art picked out: Biondo Foundation, Center for Developmental Disabilities and GAIT Therapeutic Horseback Riding Center. They were invited to a recent meeting where there was lunch and then presented with their donation checks.

The Milford-Matamoras Rotary is looking forward to next year’s event and to raise more money for local non-profit organizations.
