— The Delaware Valley Color Guard will hold its first Open House Recruitment from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, in the middle school band room.

A color guard is known as the “Sport of the Arts.” It brings music to life through performance in a competitive format.

Delaware Valley students, both girls and boys in grades 6 to 12, are welcome to join an exciting world of performance and entertainment. Color guard pageantry involves an array of equipment, movements, and skills.

"Color guard creates friendships, talents, and standards of excellence while fostering an environment where young men and women can grow laugh, learn, and meet challenges as a group," says James Campistrous, coach for the Delaware Valley Color Guard. "There are no star performers in Color Guard as we perform as an ensemble, supporting each other every step of the way."

Experience is not necessary, he said.

"Any student who has an interest in music, dance, cheerleading, gymnastics, skating, martial arts, volley ball, lacrosse, track and field, field hockey, tennis, soccer, chorus or concert band, or none of these, will find that color guard is a place for them," says the coach. "As with any activity or sport, we only ask that members who join dedicate themselves to be the best they can be and commit to staying the entire season and attend all rehearsals and competitions."
