— Children and their parents are invited to get outside and learn about the tracks and traces our native wildlife leave behind. How do animals move in the forest? Where do they gather to drink? Can you tell the difference between a dog track and a coyote?

“Who Goes There? Tracking Pocono Wildlife" will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center, 8050 Running Valley Road, Bartonsville, Pa.

Led by an experienced environmental educator, the program starts inside as children and their families learn about critters who live in the woods and along the cold, pure streams of the Poconos. How animals make tracks and what to look for in identifying tracks will be covered.

After the classroom introduction, everyone will move outside for a walk in search of tracks. Learn how different tracks look on the ground compared to on a screen, and enjoy being outdoors in winter — bug-free!

The cost is free, but registration is required. This activity is suitable for children of all ages. Children and adults should dress to be outside and be prepared to walk on snow-covered trails.

This event is part of the Water Wiser Kids Series sponsored by Brodhead Watershed Association, funded by a Dr. Claus Jordan Endowment Grant from Lehigh Valley Health Network Pocono Foundation.

Brodhead Watershed Association is a nonprofit environmental organization, formed in 1989, dedicated to protecting and preserving water resources and the environment of the Brodhead watershed, and the water quality of the Brodhead, Cherry, Marshalls, McMichael, Paradise and Pocono creeks and their tributaries. BWA assists municipalities, residents, businesses and groups with protecting natural resources through education, workshops, seminars, public programs and stream monitoring.
