Did you know that you can lower your body mass, simply by sipping tea?

Tea has antioxidants and other compounds that may protect against cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, and memory decline, according to researchers at Penn State University. They found that people who drank several cups of hot tea a day had a body mass index three points lower on average than non-tea drinkers.

Black tea may help strengthen your bones, according to a Japanese study that tracked 498 women over five years. Skip the milk, though, since its proteins can bind with the of the beneficial compounds, reducing your body's ability to absorb them,

Green tea includes a compound found in studies to reduce bad cholesterol and counter inflammation in the body. Adding a squeeze of lemon may help its beneficial compounds, according to research from Purdue University.

White teas contain the most catechins, a type of flavonoid that may help keep blood vessels open and break down body fat.
