To pay tribute to Helen Keller (pictured) on the 138th anniversary of her birth, the American Readers Theatre will present a dramatic reading, “The Light in My Darkness: The Story of Helen Keller,” with adaptation and direction by Jeffrey Stocker. The public is invited to the free performance at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, at the Milford branch of the Pike County Public Library on Harford Street. “Helen Keller is one of the most influential women of our time, and hearing her inspired words, some of which are very timely, makes for an interesting evening of theater," said Stocker. Keller was not only an activist for the deaf and blind, but she fought for women’s rights and was an author and a lecturer. The performers will tell her story and read from her works. Whether or not one is familiar with Keller’s remarkable life, her words are bound to enlighten and inspire the listener.
