— Ardance Dance Studio opened at 111 Hulst Drive, Suite 706, in Matamoras on Sept. 4. Owner Anna Duke answered some questions about her exciting new venture.

Q. How did you get involved in the business?

A. I've been dancing professionally since I was a young child.

Q. What is the most stressful time of the day for your business and why?

A. The evenings. Along with offering kids classes, we offer classes for adults. The majority of them are in the evenings. We also offer a two-hour social dance class every Friday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Q. What is your favorite part of being in business?

A. Helping our students. I love being able not only to teach dance to our students, but to help enrich their lives. Dance has so many positive effects on individuals — gaining more confidence, losing weight, becoming a better person, meeting new people. Plus it's such stress reliever! It's the best feeling ever watching a student leave class happy and relaxed.

Q. Share your most rewarding customer service story ever:

A. I've been teaching for a few years now and I have so many. One of the most rewarding experiences was when this one lady in her early 60s, lost 25 pounds with my classes alone and regained her happiness.

Q. Tell us about family involvement/sacrifices in the business:

A. Its a family-run business. We've sacrificed a lot.

Q. What is your favorite book, movie, video game, or TV show.

A. Anything dance related

Q. What hobbies do you have when you are not working?

A. More dancing

Q. Why do you think Courier readers would be interested in your business?

A. I think our dance studio offers something new to the community. We offer classes for young kids, kids, adults, and seniors! We have socials for adults, professional dance training for kids, and much more. We offer classes specifically designed for seniors ages 55+, which aren't offered anywhere nearby. We have Mommy and Me classes too! Don't forget ballroom dancing! We can choreograph wedding dances!

Q. Who has inspired you the most, and why?

A. Too many people to list....
