— Sky McDonough on Tuesday received the maximum sentence for the murder of his girlfriend, Leanna Walker, in April 2016.

He will serve from 21 years, 3 months, in prison, up to 42 years, 6 months. There were actually two cases, one for Leanna's murder and the other for McDonough's flight from justice and other charges.

Leanna was 17 years old at the time of her death. Her burned body was found on a llama farm in Milford, where McDonough, 27, was once an employee.

McDonough admitted his guilt to third-degree murder last month and was sentenced Tuesday night in Pike County Court. He was defended by Milford attorney Michael Weinstein.

Leanna was last seen leaving her house with McDonough before vanishing. A massive search ensued that resulted in her discovery at the llama farm in May 2016, a month after she disappeared.

McDonough was arrested in June 2017 and charged with murder, kidnapping, and flight from justice. He denied at the time knowing anything about Leanna's fate.

Leanna's friends and family suspected McDonough from the start. They said they’d seen signs of violence in McDonough. He threw shovel at her, they said, and threatened her about what would happen if she ever left him. Some friends said he was under psychiatric care.

Leanna's friends and family said McDonough took advantage of Leanna's kind nature.
