Robert E. Lefberg of Bloomingburg, N.Y., dies at age 70

Robert E. Lefberg of Bloomingburg, N.Y., a 45-year area resident, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at the Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, N.Y. He was 70.

Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lefberg, he was born on Jan. 13, 1948, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Robert was employed as an electrical supervisor for the City of New York Department of Environmental Protection and was formerly self-employed as owner and operator of R&S Electric in Bloomingburg for 25 years.

Robert proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, receiving a Purple Heart and later serving in Iraq with the U.S. Army Reserves, where he received a Bronze Star. He later served with the New York Guard for seven years. Robert was a member of the VFW and also a member of Temple Sinai in Middletown.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Lefberg, at home in Bloomingburg; four children, Brett Lefberg and his wife, Denise, of Milford, Pa., Andrew Lefberg and his wife, Denise, of San Francisco, Calif., Rachel Barr and her husband, Dale, of Charlotte, N.C., and Samantha Lefberg of Brooklyn; grandchildren, Benjamin, Sean, Owen, Natalie, Marc, and Ava; and two brothers.

Funeral services were scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Temple Sinai, 75 Highland Avenue, Middletown, N.Y., with Rabbi Marcus Rubenstein officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, N.Y.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Cornelius, Dodd and Connell Funeral Home, Middletown, N.Y.
