The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Pike County that will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23.
Freezing rain and sleet are expected, with total ice accumulations generally a light glaze. Up to a tenth of an inch is possible in higher terrain.
In Pennsylvania, the areas to be affected include Pike, southern Wayne (including Honesdale), Wyoming, Lackawanna, and Luzerne counties. Sullivan County in New York will also be affected.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Slow down and use caution while driving. The hazardous conditions could affect the evening commute.
From Wednesday night through Friday, rises on area rivers and streams could lead to ice jams, the Weather Service says.
For the latest road conditions, call 511.
