Students at the Delaware Valley Elementary School became educated on the invasive spotted lantern fly. Ms. Angie Smith from the Penn State Extension visited classes with information on this invasive species. It is a plant hopper native to China, India, and Vietnam. Classes learned what to look for, which trees they love, and how bad these pests can get. They were told that they haven’t been spotted in Pike County. However, they have been found in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Angie Smith is pictured in Mrs. Genovese’s fourth-grade class. (Photo by Peg Snure)
