A conflict of interest in Milford Township

To the Editor:

At the Milford Township supervisors meeting on Monday night, a proposal was introduced to alter Milford Township's zoning for the purpose of allowing the construction of a 180-unit housing complex and strip mall on the property adjacent to Milford Township Building. When the question of conflict of interest was raised regarding those supervisors and planners who are connected to businesses that would benefit greatly from construction, a population increase, development, and the zoning change, supervisor Penney Luhrs disallowed that possibility.

Mrs. Luhrs is married into a family whose businesses cater to the needs of homeowners and the building trades. Kevin Stroyan, on the Township Planning Commission, owns a business that would obviously expand were an expansion of the population to occur.
