— Dingman Delaware Middle School Career and Leadership students recently learned about different lines of work from practitioners who gave talks at their school.

Safe HavenChelsea Falotico from Safe Haven of Pike County explained the difference between being a bystander or an upstander. Every kid has a choice when they witness bullying — be a bystander, and don't get involved; or be an upstander, and do something to make things right. It takes courage to speak up on someone's behalf, she said.

U.S. Army National GuardErin Roe, SSG USARMY NG PAARNG (US), from the United States Army National Guard, shared her service history and information about the Guard. The students asked questions about opportunities, scholarships, and experiences available.

Pike County Workforce Development AgencyCynthia DeFebo and Emily DeLew from the Pike County Workforce Development Agency talked about the numerous employment resources available for Pike County youth and adults. Mrs. DeFebo also spoke to the students about the top 10 qualities employers look for in teen job applicants, a topic that was interesting and informative for the students. They had the opportunity to ask many questions.
