White meat has same effect on cholesterol as red meat, study finds


Contrary to the conventional wisdom, choosing chicken over steak may not be the superior choice healthwise.
According to a study published this week in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, lean red meats, like beef, and lean white meats, like chicken, have the same effect on your cholesterol. The study did not look at fish or processed meats.
So if you want to bring your cholesterol down, experts advise sticking to a plant-based diet.
