"Celebrating the Arts," an open juried exhibit at the ARTery Gallery, will be on exhibit from Feb. 7 to March 7.

This annual event gives the gallery an opportunity to open its doors to regional artists who are not members of the cooperative.

The public is invited to the opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, in the historic Forest Hall Building, 210 Broad St., Milford. The exhibiting artists will be in attendance so that visitors can meet them and learn about their work and process. Refreshments will be served.

First-, second-, and third-place awards will be presented during the reception. Voting will begin for People's Choice Award and continue through the month. The award packages will be a combination of donated gift cards from local establishments such as the Water Wheel Cafe, Dimmick Inn, Milford Diner, Frisky Goat Coffee, Hotel Fauchere, Artisan Exchange and art supplies from companies such as Liquitex, Strathmore and Golden. All winning pieces will remain on exhibit through March.

Started over 20 years ago, the ARTery has a successful formula hwere the artist members own and operate the exhibit space. The gallery strives to collaborate with local organizations and fellow artists to present new and exciting exhibits throughout the year.

Last year's juried exhibit featured more than 85 chosen works of art by dozens of emerging and well-known regional artists.
