Milford artist Marie Liu will give presentation on regional art

Milford artist Marie Liu will present her popular slide presentation "The History of Art of the Minisink Region" to the Walpack Historical Society at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Walpack Church, located off Route 615 on the Main Street in Walpack Center, N.J.
Liu researched the art and artists of the region while she was resident artist of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area from 2015 to 2016. What she learned was both fascinating and surprising. Her findings were received with great enthusiasm when originally presented at the Zimmermann House and later before several other historical societies.
Liu has been creating paintings of the region since moving to Milford a decade ago. Inspired by the rugged beauty of its landscape, sublime waterfalls, picturesque creeks, dense forests, and intriguing history, she has set out to document a region with paint and canvas.
The Walpack Historical Society, which continually researches area history, offers a lecture series, informative hikes, Van Campen Inn tours, and the Rosenkrans House and Museum.
