The Rev. Marilyn L. Herbert

The Rev. Marilyn L. Herbert of Dingman Township, Pa., died peaceably at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. She was 84.

She was born in Morris, N.Y., on Sept. 18, 1936, to Walter and Gertrude (Misner) Bushnell.

Marilyn lived in the Milford, Pa., area for 40 years. She was the pastor of Dingmans New Life Christian Fellowship, where she founded the Little Acorns Daycare with her daughter Joy. These two activities provided both spiritual and educational support to the families of Dingmans and Delaware Townships for over two decades.

Marilyn earned her bachelor’s degree in French from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and her master’s degree in theology from the Bible and Theological Seminary in Evansville, Ill.

She is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Andrew Herbert; sisters Janet Kobelia and Margaret Matteson; sister-in-law, Louise Roatche (Richard); sons, Genaro (Georgann) of Herndon, Va., and Vincent (Rene) of Milford, Pa.; and daughter Mimi (Ronnie) of Taylor, Michigan. Marilyn has five grandchildren, Romeo, Jessi, Daniel, Anne, and Michael; and one great-grandchild, Isabelle. To Marilyn’s unforgettable and beloved Bushnell, Misner, Barbano, Kobelia and Matteson families, who blessed her life, please remember her smile and laughter — you enriched her life!

Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter Joy; brother Walter; and sister Ethel.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m .on May 15 at the New Life Christian Fellowship in Matamoras.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sunshine Ministries through New Life Christian Fellowship of Matamoras.
