2020 commercial vehicle permits for Route 209 are now available

Dingman. To be eligible for the $200 permit, a commercial vehicle must have fewer than five axles and be owned and operated by a business located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area or adjacent municipalities, or serve the people or businesses in these areas.

Commercial vehicle permits for U.S. Route 209 for 2020 are available from the National Park Service.

Permits cost is $200 per vehicle, are non-transferrable, and expire on Dec. 31.

To be eligible, commercial vehicles must have four or fewer axles and be owned and operated by a business located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area or adjacent municipalities; or serve the businesses or people in this area. These municipalities are Delaware Township, Dingman Township, Lehman Township, Matamoras Borough, Middle Smithfield Township, Milford Borough, Milford Township, Smithfield Township, and Westfall Township in Pennsylvania.

All commercial vehicles may travel without a permit on Route 209 between mile 0 and Bushkill Falls Road and between Milford and the Route 206/Delaware River toll bridge. All commercial vehicles traveling on Route 209 between Bushkill Falls Road and the Route 206 toll bridge are required to have a valid commercial vehicle permit.

The term “commercial vehicle” is a vehicle used in transporting movable property for a fee or profit, either as a direct charge to another person or otherwise; or used to provide services to another person, or in connection with any business.

Permits may be obtained in person at Bushkill Meeting Center, which is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Permits may also be obtained by mail by downloading the application from our website at nps.gov/dewa/planyourvisit/fees.htm and mailing the form and your payment to Fee Program Manager, 1978 River Road, Bushkill, PA 18324.
