GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center was chosen by Keller Williams Real Estate for their annual “RED Day,” a day set aside each year to give back to the community through volunteering. This year’s “RED Day,”

May 13 turned out to be a beautiful sunny day to tackle some of GAIT’s spring cleaning that needed to get done. The KW team included Arlene Quirk, Susan Brown, Exio Dominguez, Robert DeGroat, Shaun Burger, Teresa Eckert, Karen Zingone, and Sylvia Sirin.

Even a small horse farm like GAIT is a lot of work to keep it looking its best and to keep safe for visitors and horses. Riding areas also need to be safely utilized by participants. The ramp allows riders who use wheelchairs or are unsteady to have access to mount a horse. KW volunteers stained the ramp to prepare for the installation of non-slip treads. A few select fences are painted in bright colors, according to the color wheel, to aid as a visual target for riders to steer their horse. The KW volunteers rolled up their sleeves to dip right in to fresh cans of paint with their paintbrushes and rollers. Their team also worked on gardening and general organizing/ cleanup which gave the GAIT staff more time for horse training and organizing programming.

GAIT staff (and horses) cannot thank the KW team enough for all their hard work.

Martha S. Dubensky, Executive Director, states “We are grateful to the Keller Williams Real Estate volunteers for their time, enthusiasm, and talents to fulfill a need at GAIT TRC.”
