Contractors will be working on U.S. Route 209 in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area from Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 24.

Workers will be drilling pavement cores from mile marker 0, at the park boundary, to mile marker 7.0, just south of the Wheat Plains/Brodhead-Heller Farm and Community Garden, according to John Lambert, Chief of Facility Management.

Motorists should expect minor delays with single-lane road closures while work is completed, he said.

Contractors will be working from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily but will remain north of the intersection with Bushkill Falls Road before 8 a.m. and after 5 p.m. to allow commuter access to alternative routes.

This work is being done in preparation for the design of a pavement improvement project for that stretch of road.

This project is funded through the Federal Lands Transportation Program.
