GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center cancels rest of season

| 01 Apr 2020 | 12:55

GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center has been monitoring the COVID-19 situation as it unfolds. All non-essential PA businesses have been closed since March 19. On March 27, PA Governor Tom Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine issued a stay at home order for Pike County residents; the order has since been extended through April 30, and PA schools are closed until further notice. Residents in neighboring counties and states are under similar orders. On March 29, President Trump also offered federal guidance urging everyone nationwide to maintain social distancing measures through April 30.

In light of these events, GAIT’s Board of Directors has decided to cancel the remainder of this session and resume normal operations in May, unless otherwise determined. Future session dates will be adjusted to a five-week schedule (replacing the usual seven-week schedule) for the remainder of 2020. All fundraising efforts have been temporarily suspended, with exception of the “Race for the Ribbons” campaign, which goes to directly support GAIT’s horses during this crisis.

Revised dates for lessons, volunteer training, and special events are subject to change and will be posted on GAIT’s website (gaittrc.org). We will continue to assess the situation on a daily basis and keep everyone posted as to when we can get back in the saddle! Until then, we thank you for your ongoing support and wish you safety and health.
