M-W food services workers earn national certification

CENTRAL VALLEY — Four members of the Monroe-Woodbury food services team recently earned the nationally recognized ServSafe certification for food service.
Michele Valente and Adriana Giraldo from M-W High School; Renee Keys from M-W Middle School; and Maria Collins from Pine Tree each earned the distinctive ServSafe certification.
ServSafe is an educational program that was developed by the National Restaurant Association. Its main goal is to educate food service workers about food safety. The association provides nationally accredited certification in food safety that is required by law in many states.
ServSafe training and certification is recognized by more federal, state and local jurisdictions than any other food safety certification.
According to the ServSafe website, more than five million food service professionals have been certified through the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination, which is accredited by the American National Standards Institute-Conference for Food Protection.
“These individuals have gone above and beyond to ensure they are highly equipped with the knowledge and skill to best serve our students and staff on a daily basis,” said M-W Food Services Director Aldis Ansons. “Congratulations to them on this well earned honor and for setting the bar high for all members of our kitchen staff.”
