| 28 Apr 2021 | 02:03

Lords Valley. The Pike County Training Center and fire departments throughout the county will be hosting Junior Firefighter Weekend, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2.

This county-level program was developed and instructed by a consortium of chiefs and line officers to provide “hands-on” practical training in all aspects of fire and rescue operations as permitted by Pennsylvania law for junior members.

Topics include: water supply, engine and truck company duties, skills and tasks and vehicle rescue with EMS activities. Full turnout gear will be required for each attendee and all companies will be required to provide proof (copy of) of valid workers compensation insurance to the Training Center in Lords Valley prior to be allowed to participate in hands on operations.

There is no need to be affiliated to an organization to attend. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. There will be a spectator area to watch “the students of today develop into the leaders of tomorrow.”

Chiefs or training officers should contact jwisniewski@pikepa.org or 570-296-1960 for more information and to register.
