The Pike County Commissioners on May 5 honored Melissa Conway as the 2020 Correctional Officer of the Year as they recognized Corrections Employee Week.

Conway has worked at the Pike County Correctional Facility since March 8, 2004, and has “performed her duties in an outstanding manner, demonstrated professionalism and done her duty with diligence.”

“As a warden of this facility, I am extremely proud of this selection because Melissa is always positive and always smiling,” Warden Craig Lowe said.

The plaque will be hung in the facility’s lobby.

Conway thanked the commissioners for honoring her but said little else.

“We appreciate your diligence and hard work all these years,” said Commissioner Matthew Osterberg. “Even though how difficult the job that is, we recognize it, and we’re honored we have employees like you working for our county. We know it’s been a difficult job in a difficult situation.”
