Community invited to Transgender Day of Remembrance
MILFORD — The community is invited to the Transgender Day of Remembrance Memorial at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the TriVersity Center for Gender and Sexual Diversity, 201 West Harford St., Milford, to remember transgender people who have been murdered.
"We will be reading the names of our transgender brothers and sisters that we lost this year," said Cindy Stine, executive director/president of TriVersity. "As we read each name we will 'light' an LED candle."
The memorial will be held outside on the center's steps. All are welcome. Light refreshments will be served afterward.
The mission of TriVersity Center (formerly the Upper Delaware GLBT Center) is "to provide a space and programs that welcome, support and empower the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) community living in and visiting the Upper Delaware region; to promote acceptance of GLBT individuals through education; and to be an advocate for social change that embraces diversity and eliminates oppression based on sexual orientation and gender identity."
