AP) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency is denying disaster aid for a March snowstorm that dropped more than 30 inches on parts of northeastern Pennsylvania.

A May 11 letter from FEMA's acting administrator, Robert Fenton, to Gov. Tom Wolf said damage wasn't beyond the capability of the state and local authorities.

U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta had urged Wolf to make the request, saying the storm had overwhelmed local budgets, even though it didn't exceed the state's per-capita threshold.

On Twitter, U.S. Sen. Bob Casey accused President Donald Trump of leaving northeastern Pennsylvania with an unfair financial burden. Wolf's office says it'll discuss whether to appeal with local officials.

Earlier last week, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper complained to Trump's administration about being denied nearly all of the $929 million he requested for last fall's Hurricane Matthew.
