MILFORD — The Hotel Fauchère announced today that furloughed federal employees are eligible to receive a 25 percent discount on food purchases at the hotel’s Bar Louis and 403 Broad restaurants, upon presentation of a qualifying federal identification card.
“The government shutdown has wreaked havoc on federal employees and their families, causing them to make difficult decisions between paying for their utilities or buying groceries, putting gas in their car or paying for medication,” said Sean Strub, the hotel’s owner.
“We hope that by offering a 25 percent discount on all food purchases at Bar Louis and 403 Broad, it will make dining out more affordable and send a message of support from our community to federal employees,” said Strub.
Brandon Grimila, the hotel’s culinary director, said, “We are fortunate in Pike County to have many dedicated National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service employees taking care of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Grey Towers National Historic Site, the Upper Delaware Wild and Scenic River and other properties. For many of them, the shutdown has caused serious anxiety and concern. I hope our offer will make it possible for some to enjoy a nice dinner out during this time.”
The 25 percent discount is available in both Bar Louis and 403 Broad restaurants at the Hotel Fauchere complex in Milford. Those requesting the discount must present their federal employee ID badge; the discount will cover their meal and that of an accompanying guest (but not eligible for alcoholic beverages).
Like the shutdown, there is no end date for the discount scheduled at this time. “It’s just a matter of caring about our community” Strub said. “This is one small thing we can do."
