The good folks at Texas Lunch of Port Jervis, N.Y., added flavor to a program at Twin Cedars Senior Living recently with their "all the way" hot dogs.

The seniors enjoyed the treats and the program on local historical figures, presented by the Pike County Historical Society. Each month the historical society brings a program to Twin Cedars.

This month's program included the story of Smoky Joe Wood, the famous baseball player who lived in Shohola. Of course, any talk of baseball calls for a hot dog to complete the experience, and George Lutfy and staff at Texas Lunch were happy to provide the dogs for the occasion

Next month the historical society will be back with another program, a presentation on the Lenape people and their way of life. The seniors will plant their own vegetable garden, which will include the "three sisters" method of Native American gardening: corn, beans, and squash.

"The programming at Twin Cedar is geared towards meeting the social, physical, cognitive, spiritual and educational needs of our seniors," said Twin Cedars owner Tamara Singer.

In addition to in-house programming and activities, the seniors also go on weekly trips to interesting attractions and places of natural beauty. For more information visit TwinCedars.net.

Texas Lunch has been the place to go for a hot dog, hamburger, French fries, and onion rings since 1936. The "secret sauce" has kept generations of families coming back. Texas Lunch is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday; and 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
