Milford. Learn the ancient art of Asian watercolor brush painting with Helen Yeoshin Hwang at the ARTery Gallery, 210 Broad St., Milford. Hwang will teach the traditional technique of washes and brushstrokes using bamboo brushes, India ink, and rice paper to create flowers, bamboo, and landscape images. Her own paintings combine this traditional technique with a modern twist. She travels home to Korea every year for a solo gallery exhibit of her works. Here in Pennsylvania, she exhibits her work at the ARTery and throughout the region. To view her paintings, visit the gallery or its website, arterygallerymilford.com, or Hwang's website at hyeoshin.com. The workshops will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 and 29. Each class costs $47 and includes all materials. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required by emailing yeoshinhwang@gmail.com.
